(d) Recognise you when you return to our site (and distinguish you from other visitors), so we can measure how the site is performing and improve it.

These are analytics/performance cookies and are not essential to the operation of the site; we set them only where you have given consent.

(If you're working from an older template that lists _gid (24 hours) and _gat (1 minute) — drop those. They belonged to Universal Analytics and GA4 no longer sets them.)

This plugin displays our cookie consent banner and records your response so we can respect your preferences. It sets a consent cookie:

  • cookie_notice_accepted or hu-consent — stores whether, and how, you responded to the cookie banner. The name depends on your version: the older "Cookie Notice" plugin used cookie_notice_accepted; the plugin has since been rebranded (from "Cookie Notice" to "Compliance by Hu-manity.co" and now "Cookie Compliance for WordPress") and newer versions use hu-consent. Duration: typically 1 month by default, though the current Cookie Compliance version lets you set how long a choice stays valid before re-asking, in the Hu-manity dashboard.
