Award-winning estate agents Whitaker Seager have welcomed the completion of the long-awaited A417 “missing link” bypass, calling it a major step forward for Birdlip’s future.
By diverting heavy traffic away from the heart of the village, the bypass delivers quieter streets, a calmer atmosphere, and an even stronger sense of community for residents.
Birdlip is already thriving. Its village school was recently praised by Ofsted, while The George Hotel continues to draw visitors. For Liz Whitaker-Street, Director of Whitaker Seager—and a former pupil of Birdlip Village School—the change feels particularly significant. She recalls lorries rushing past the playground during her childhood, a stark contrast to the tranquillity residents can now enjoy.
“It’s a win-win,” said Liz. “Birdlip can look forward to a more peaceful future without losing the accessibility that makes it so attractive.”

The bypass is expected to enhance the appeal of Birdlip further, strengthening its reputation as a desirable place to live. Quieter roads and greater peace will complement the village’s historic charm, while convenient links to nearby Cotswold towns ensure easy commuting and connections remain.
